what do we think of amadeus (1984)

i have to admit , i only watched this movie cause it won 8 academy awards and it's dvd cover was very interesting !  amadeus seemed a familiar name ! why of course , wolfgang amadeus mozart .
one of the most celebrated musicians of all time .
this movie follows on the story told by the famous opera writer antonio salieri , the man of whom he accused of himself to murder mozart .

like all victorian age movies , it did have it's fair share of spectacular tailored costumes and art direction .
it had the typical victorian air but unlike other movies , it didn't even have one sleepy moment ! the whole movie was tip top ! it was funny ! hillarious actually (note mozart's laughter ) hahhahaa ! it was engaging , moving , even frustrating at times .

academy award winning director , milos forman managed to turn a story of what some people might say boring , into a very moving  but critically acclaimed statue esq movie .

F. Murray Abraham   did a terrific job playing the estraged and jealous composer , antonio salieri earning him an oscar for the role .  it's just a wonder to see him convey the role on the screen .

Tom Hulce        who played mozart  was awesome . i didn't even know mozart was a player and i certainly  didn't know that he was a proud and selfish man . i thought he died of old age but (sigh) , it seemed he brougt death to himself . his iconic laughter still rings in my mind . totally didn't expect that from mozart . by the look of him , i thought he was more of a reserved character . hahahaha ! i guess  i was wrong !

i will and i WILL NOT  comment about the others as their roles were rather small  and didn't impact me like these two . music was awesome as we got to hear some of mozart's compositions .

mozart doing the iconic laugh ! hahahhaa !
below : the interesting dvd cover !
it was a clever movie  and i loved everything about this movie . good attempt for one of the greatest stories ever told !

  1. Please do not take this movie as a serious biopic. It's a good movie, but it portrays Mozart as a bumbling idiot with a weird laugh. It couldn't be further from the truth. Oh and it's set in the 18th century, not the Victorian era.

Wildly inaccurate at best and character assassination at its worst. Do not take this movie seriously!

  2. exactly ! it's just solely based on entertaining the crowd ! that's the reason why it was successful at the oscars ! it was a feel good movie ! this falls in the same category as slum dog millionaire
